2025 International Vacation Part 2 – Revisiting Greece!

2025 International Vacation Part 2 – Revisiting Greece!

October 3, 2025 Posted by admin Travels - Domestic & International No Comments

Welcome to part 2 of our 2025 International Vacation!  As I mentioned earlier, Santorini holds a special place me and my husband’s heart.  Out of all the places that I have been blessed to see, it will always stand out as the place that we HAVE to go back and visit.  From the spectacular caldera views, the white and blue architecture, and the absolutely stunning sunsets… all of this sets the ambiance for a truly magical and romantic experience. You just have to experience the awesome beauty, the hospitality, the attention to detail, and the customer service to understand.

Santorini, Greece (6 Days)

Day 1:  We arrive at the Reverie Hotel in Firostefani, and are welcomed back “home” with a complimentary bottle of Rakomelo.  We were lucky enough to stay in the exact same room we stayed in the first time we visited.  The top tier hospitality and customer service will be why we will always book with them whenever we visit Santorini.

Day 2:  After enjoying our delicious breakfast (exactly the same as the last time we visited), we embarked on the 6.5 mile hike to Oia.  The hike from Fira to Oia is a must do when visiting Santorini.  The hike along the edge of the caldera is one of the most spectacular hikes anywhere in the world in my opinion.  I was able to take more photos of the hike to show more of the fantastic scenery.

WHEW!  After a little over 3 hours, we finally make it to Oia!  The first time we did the hike, we made it in a little over 2 hours because we were on a time crunch.  This time, we were in no rush and were able to enjoy the hike thoroughly.

Hike  Tips:

  • Take your time and start the hike early.  You do not need to be extremely fit to complete the hike, but it will be a little challenging in some spots, so there is no need to rush.

  • There is no shade a tall along the hike.  I suggest using plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.  I also suggest packing some water for hydration.

  • Good hiking shoes will go a long way.  I do not recommend the hike in flip flops or shoes that are not sturdy.

  • I do not suggest using google maps to guide you.  There are signs along the route that will direct your path.  It is pretty hard to get lost along the path.

Day 3:  This was our day to do more shopping and walk the winding streets of Fira.  There are literally shops and restaurants EVERYWHERE.  It is one of those experiences that you have to experience in person.  And to conclude the evening, the sunset dinner was enough to take your breath away!

Day 4:  We explored the archaeological ruins of Akrotiri.  The city was buried in a massive volcanic eruption in the middle of the second millennium around the 16th century BCE… similar to the city of Pompeii.  The eruption of the Thera Volcano (modern day Santorini) released an unimaginable  amount of volcanic ash and pumice, completely covering and preserving the ancient city.

After exploring Akrotiri, we explored the island on our ATV.  We visited the light-house again and went for a wine tasting at our favorite winery, Santo Wines.  The selections were incredible and just as good (if not better) than the last time we tasted them.  It is always a treat to savor and enjoy the different wine selections, and breathe in the beauty of the caldera.

Day 5:  This was one of our relaxation in the sun and unwind days as we visited Perissa Beach.  The black sand, clear blue water, and umbrella covered sunbeds only add to the luxurious atmosphere of this beach experience.  To enjoy one of the sunbeds, you have to purchase 30 euros in food/drinks from the menu.

Day 6:  We took a 5 hour Catamaran sunset cruise around the island.  There are NO WORDS that I can describe how amazing this was!  We were able to stop at select locations and swim, enjoy an open bar, enjoy a tasty dinner, and experience a sunset so beautiful that it made the hairs on my arm stand up!  This was definitely the highlight of Santorini for me, and the absolute best way to end our stay in our “special place”.

*Word of caution*

If you are the slightest bit prone to seasickness or motion sickness, I do NOT recommend the catamaran boat cruise without scopolamine patches and motion sickness medication.  The waters can get pretty choppy around certain areas of the island and I would not want your experience to be a non-pleasant one.

Mykonos, Greece (5 Days)

Being one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece, Mykonos has a reputation for beautiful beaches, luxury resorts, and a WILD party nightlife and atmosphere.  My experience in Mykonos is more so one that is focused on the fantastic cuisine, and beach life, as this is our time to relax and unwind on the beach while basking in the sun and releasing stress to the far beyond.

Day 1:  After taking the 2.5 hour seajet from Santorini we arrived at the port where we were taken to our hotel, The Damianos.  We chose to stay at the same hotel we stayed in previously because of the SUPERB customer service.  The owner welcomed us back with so much hospitality.  Our comfort and enjoyment were their top priority.

Later after settling into our room and relaxing for a bit, we walked down to Mykonos Town to enjoy cocktails and sunset dinner.  The wind was super robust this time!

*Travel Fact*

Mykonos is known for being quite windy during certain months, specifically June through September.

Day 2:  We explored more of the town, more specifically the recently opened area behind the windmills!  What a treat it was to view 360 panoramic views of Mykonos Town with the iconic windmills standing proudly in the forefront.  We also purchased some souvenirs and keepsakes from several of the shops.

*Travel Tip*

The city bus was our preferred method of getting around the town because of the cost and convenience.  It only cost 2.5 euros per trip and the bus stops are convenient to walking.

Day 3, 4 and 5:  These were our beloved beach days.  We spent hours saying on Elia beach under the hot sun, rejuvenating and relaxing.  After being stressed to the max at work, these beach days were a much needed and anticipated get-away to destress, relax, and renew my spirit.  Out of all the beaches that we have visited in Mykonos, Elia is our beach of choice.

This vacation, just like previous vacations, proved to be another absolutely amazing lifetime memory.  We will definitely visit Santorini again in the future.  I am truly blessed and filled with gratitude and thankfulness for traveling mercies and fortune.  Thank you Lord!

Cheers to many more outstanding vacations.

James
