My Design Theory

I govern my design aesthetic under the harmonies of Principle (integrity), Pattern (form), and Purpose (function).
I believe that there are very different outcomes when these different elements interact with each other. I believe that a strong interaction between Principle and Purpose may be ok for some, but I think that it delivers a boring product. Likewise, I believe that a strong interaction between Pattern and Purpose can yield designs that are more conceptual and “outside the box”. Also, I believe that designs with strong Principle and strong Pattern will almost always captivate your audience, entice, and pick their interest.
However (and there is always a however), there can always be a little chaos lurking around the corner, and when it is added to the equation… particularly with a conceptual idea, I have discovered some pretty pleasant surprises.

How much are your graphic design services?

It depends on the total amount of hours and time that I put into designing and developing the project… usually from $250.00 up to $1000.00 for websites. Your investment in your website depends on what your business needs in order to easily attract more clients. E-Commerce websites are going to cost more than a personal website for example. As far as graphic design projects, the prices are listed below: *and are subject to change*

What content management system do you use to build your websites?

The content management system that I use is WordPress. It offers the most flexibility and development options to custom build elegant and stunning websites in my opinion. It is a great content management system for the needs of small businesses to large-sized organizations. It is easy to customize and easy to integrate with other software tools. It also has the largest framework in the world–excellent for stability and security!

How long does it take to build a website?

Honestly, it depends on the type of website you need. Generally, it takes about 1 – 4 weeks once I receive all of your content. For e-commerce websites, it takes longer because I have to build the products. It also takes longer for those websites that have multiple pages. One page websites are usually the fastest turn-around.
Regardless of the task, I will keep you updated regularly and I will get it done in a timely manner.

How much of my time do you require?

It depends on how much you want to contribute. Clients usually spend time gathering logins, looking things over, and giving me the details and ideas of your project… Usually no more than a few hours.

Do you offer hosting or do I need to provide my own hosting package?

I do not offer hosting. You have to already have your own hosting service and a domain with cPanel. If you are unsure how to proceed, I will be glad to help you through the process, and refer you to several hosting services.

Once the website is up and running, can I update the website content myself?

Absolutely. WordPress has a framework that makes it easier to update than most. With a little virtual training (YouTube videos, etc.) you should be able to change out a photo or add some content without too much difficulty. If you are familiar with MS Word and can maneuver around without any difficulty, you should be able to navigate WordPress to update your website yourself.

Will my website work across all platforms?

Absolutely! WordPress makes it possible to optimize your website so that it functions on any computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Which format should I supply any text files and picture files for a project?

Please supply any text and pictures that you wish to use in your project in digital form. All pictures, text, & files should be sent via email. Pictures are preferable in PNG form or JPEG form.

What other expenses do I need to cover in addition to the cost of building the actual website?

How do I pay for your services?

We will discuss this when we talk about your project in detail, but generally I use PayPal Invoice, Venmo, and Zelle, . We can do 100% upfront, or split it into two or three installments over 30-60 days as works best for your budgeting needs.

How do I choose the right graphic/web designer?

Browse and compare web/graphic designers by visiting their websites. Once there, pay attention to their work. Also, check to make sure that their links work throughout their website. Check the quality of their graphics and photos. Look for an original design and not a “template” design. Check out their portfolio. Check to make sure that they show up when doing a google search. You will know you have found the right person for you once you have done this necessary research.
