Sensational Strawberry Peach Sangria

A refreshing fruity cocktail that is a little more time consuming to make, but trust me, it is well worth the necessary preparations.

Ingredients:  for 8 servings

  • 15 strawberries

  • 2 peaches

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 ½ cups sugar

  • 1 bottle white wine, chilled

  • ¾ cup rum

  • 1 bottle champagne, or sparkling white wine, chilled

  • ice cube, to chill

  • 10 strawberries, extra for serving, sliced

  • 2 peaches, extra for serving, sliced

Discard:  Remove the green tops of the strawberries and slice the peaches.

Prepare: In a saucepan, dissolve sugar in water.  Then add the strawberries and peaches.  Bring to a rolling boil and reduce to medium heat. Boil for approximately 15 minutes, or until the strawberries become pale and the peaches are soft.

Strain:  Strain the syrup and refrigerate for 2 hours, or until cooled. Discard boiled fruit.

Combine:  In a pitcher, combine the cooled syrup, sliced extra fruit, white wine, and rum.

Chill:  Chill for 2-4 hours.

Enjoy:  Scoop fruit into glasses with ice, pour sangria, and top with champagne or sparkling wine.

Blackberry Lemonade cocktail

Another refreshing blackberry lemonade cocktail is a little more time consuming to make, but trust me, it is well worth the necessary preparations.

Ingredients:

Blackberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries (a pint of blackberries is typically 1.5 to 2 cups)

  • 1 cup sugar white sugar

Blackberry Cocktail

  • Ice

  • 1 cup Vodka (I prefer Grey Goose)

  • 1 cup lemonade (homemade or store bought)

  • club soda

  • Blackberries for garnish

  • Lemon wedge for garnish

Prepare:  Make the blackberry simple syrup by combining the berries, water and sugar in a medium sized pot.  Bring to a simmer, lower heat and continue to simmer for 4 minutes. Allow to sit and completely cool.  Strain the mixture to separate the seeds.  Place in a mason jar and keep in your fridge until ready to use.

To make the cocktail:  Fill a tall glass with ice.  Add 3 oz of vodka, 1/3 cup of lemonade and 3 TBS blackberry simple syrup and stir.

Finish:  Top with club soda.

Garnish:  Garnish with Lemon Wedge and enjoy!

Purple Passion

Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

  • 1 ¾ oz apple juice

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • 1 oz blue curaçao

  • 1 cup crushed ice, divided

  • ½ oz strawberry vodka

  • ½ oz fruit juicy red Hawaiian punch

  • 4 apple slices, for garnish

  • 1 orange peel, for garnish

Making the cocktail: Add the lemon juice, apple juice, rich simple syrup, and blue curaçao to a cocktail shaker and fill with ½ cup ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into a highball glass filled with the remaining ½ cup (70 G) ice.

Combine:  Mix the strawberry vodka and red Hawaiian punch separately.  Pour the punch/vodka on top of the drink and mix slowly.

Garnish:  Garnish with the fanned apple slices and an orange peel.

Electric Lime Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz White Rum

  • 1.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice (approx. 1 whole lime juiced)

  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup

  • 6-10 Fresh Mint Leaves

  • Club Soda (to top)

  • Ice (crushed preferred)

Muddle Mint: In a sturdy glass or shaker, gently muddle the mint leaves with the simple syrup and lime juice to release the oils without shredding the leaves.

Combine: Add the white rum.

Shake: Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake for about 10-15 seconds until well-chilled.

Strain and Serve: Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.

Top and Garnish: Top with a splash of club soda. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig (slap it between your hands first to release aroma) and a lime wedge.

(NEVER over muddle the mint or shred it.  The mint will become bitter and unappetizing.)

Green With Envy Cocktail

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Midori Melon Liqueur

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Cherry Vodka

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) Fresh Lime Juice

  • Top with Club Soda

  • Garnish: Lemon wheel or cherries

Combine: Add Midori, cherry vodka, lemon juice, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.

Shake: Shake well until chilled.

Strain: Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.

Top & Garnish: Top with a splash of club soda and garnish with a lemon slice, lime wheel, or maraschino cherry.

*Rich Simple Syrup Recipe*

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • Make the rich simple syrup: Add the water and sugar to a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 minutes, until the sugar is fully dissolved. Transfer to a glass jar and let cool. The syrup will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Whatever your taste preferences, there are plenty of cocktails in this list that everyone can enjoy.

This is just a friendly resource that you can use if you’re entertaining and are looking for some new ideas to invigorate your taste buds.
