I have often heard that
The most beautiful thing on Earth
is gazing into the eyes
of someone who knows their true worth…
After you’ve spent your life trying to please
and entertain someone with a wretched disease…
and your righteous spirit was bruised…
The petals of the rose
lining the insides of the gloves didn’t soften the blows.
Your essence became obscured
Because the narcissist beat, begged, and lured
You into resentment.
There was nothing in the world
That you could have done
To let the conceited know
That you are human also.
By loving them, you became… Rib,
Clawing and scratching your way into their chest
Only to find that the heart that you were supposed to protect
Had vanished into thin air.
But baby how you have healed!
You have blossomed and continue to proliferate
With eyes that are flowers
The kind that I have never seen before…
And every time their mind attempts
To conjure the image of another,
In the very depths of their head
They will always think of you instead.
I have also heard that
We can hear the beauty and the harmony of love
When listening to someone talk
About the person that they are most fond of,
It’s easy to get lost in the symmetry of pure souls…
Yours… endless as the sky, and as deep as the ocean…
residing within your eyes…
Dwelling at depths that remain untouched,
but willing to drown trying to reach.
Your beauty is
The essence of butterflies
Birthed without a womb.
Beauty erupted from the cocoon.
Winter turning to spring with
The flutter of your eyes
Yes there is beauty… un-denied
In you, me, when we
Can erase all sin
And realize that beauty is deep within.
If we take pride in our own mind,
The place where the sordid and unclean could never defile…
Then the real true beauty will finally unfold…
When we treat ourselves with respect first,
compassion, and love.
